Potential Triggers of Abuse by  Adam Whittington   : o Poverty and therefore the immediate needs of an oversized family can drive someone to desperation. It finds expression in physical or verbal abuse. Harassed mothers have been known to kill their children and so kill. o Hormonal fluctuations in pre-menstrual, postnatal, or peri-menopausal years cause unpredictable mood swings in women, sometimes resulting in abuse of kids. o Drunken or drug-addicted parents are easily provoked. o Abnormal babies or those with disabilities are subjected to abuse by both parents and also the general public. o Sex crime within the house could be a disturbing reality. The infamous case of Josef Fritzl who imprisoned his daughter for years and sexually abused her remains fresh in our minds.
